In their second and final matchup of the season against Punxsutawney, the Bradford girls’ basketball team was unable to secure a victory, falling to the Lady Chucks by a score of 50-27. This result extended the Lady Owls’ current losing streak.
The evening began on a positive note for Bradford. Following her standout performance of 20 points and 23 rebounds against Kane the previous Friday, forward Haley Keane achieved a significant career milestone by recording her 500th rebound. Prior to the varsity contest, the team paused to honor Keane with a formal recognition ceremony, during which she was presented with a commemorative plaque.
While Bradford’s offense showed signs of improvement by generating more consistent production, the Lady Owls’ defense struggled to generate key stops. Punxsutawney capitalized on this, maintaining steady scoring throughout and ensuring their lead never dipped below eight points. Late in the third quarter, the Lady Chucks erupted for an 8-0 run, extending their advantage to 15 points heading into the final period.
In the fourth quarter, with the outcome already decided, Bradford displayed resilience and competed hard over the closing eight minutes. However, they were unable to narrow the margin meaningfully or mount a comeback. The Lady Owls ultimately fell to Punxsutawney by a final score of 50-27, marking their seventh loss of the season and continuing their challenging stretch.
Haley Keane led Bradford with a team-high 10 points, while Sheely contributed eight points in the defeat.
