Big news from the Bradford Area High School wrestling program. Senior Jordan Thompson has punched his ticket to the PIAA Individual State Wrestling Championships, which get underway this Thursday, March 5th at the Giant Center in Hershey.
Thompson won the District 9 championship at 160 pounds, then claimed the Northwest Regional title at Sharon High School — beating Slippery Rock’s Zac Turberville in the final.
Thompson is ranked third in the state and has been one of the most talked-about wrestlers in Class AA all season. According to the Bradford Area School District, this is just the fifth time in school history that a Bradford wrestler has earned a state medal. — so there’s plenty of history on the line this weekend.
The state championships run Thursday through Saturday.
