The St. Bonaventure men’s basketball team came up short Wednesday night, losing 91–82 in overtime to George Washington in Atlantic 10 play in Washington, D.C.
The Bonnies battled throughout the night and were tied after regulation before the Revolutionaries pulled away in the extra period.
Frank Mitchell led St. Bonaventure with 22 points and a big effort on the glass, while Cayden Charles added 20 points and Buddy Simmons II chipped in with 19 points.
The Bonnies led at times and stayed within striking distance most of the night, but George Washington took control in overtime with a strong scoring run to seal the victory.
With the loss, St. Bonaventure falls to 15-and-15 overall and 4-and-13 in Atlantic 10 play, while George Washington improves to 17-and-13 on the season.
The Bonnies now turn their attention to the upcoming Atlantic 10 tournament, March 11-15 at PPG Paints Areana, Pittsburgh.
