The Buffalo Sabres kept their playoff push rolling Tuesday night at KeyBank Center, holding off the Vegas Golden Knights three to two in a tight, physical game. Buffalo built a three-to-nothing lead through two periods before Vegas made things interesting — but the Sabres shut the door in the third, outshooting the Knights 28 to 29 on the night.
Goals came from Jason Zucker and defenseman Owen Power, who continues to be one of the most underrated blueliners in the Eastern Conference. Defenseman Rasmus Dahlin was the engine of the Buffalo offense, picking up two assists and a plus-two rating — earning third star honors on the night.
In net, goalie Alex Lyon was sharp when he needed to be and earned the second star. On the Vegas side, former Sabre Jack Eichel had an assist but was held in check most of the night, winning just 42 percent of his faceoffs.
Buffalo now sets its sights on a huge Thursday road matchup in Pittsburgh against the Penguins. Sabres hockey — alive and surging.
