It’s been a tough stretch for St. Bonaventure baseball. The Bonnies sit at 4-and-14 on the season after getting swept in their Atlantic 10 Conference opener at George Mason this past weekend.
The Patriots took the opener Friday, 4-3, hammered the Bonnies 15-11 in a wild Saturday affair, and shut them out Sunday 3-nothing in a pitchers’ duel to close out the sweep.
The Bonnies are now oh-and-three in A-10 play and have dropped to 4-and-14 overall. It’s been a rough month on the road, where all 18 games so far have been played away from home.
One bright spot? The pitching staff. St. Bonaventure leads the Atlantic 10 with a 4.02 ERA, and Chris Hoalcraft paces the offense with a .375 batting average.
Head coach Jason Rathbun says he believes the bats will come around. Up next, the Bonnies host Saint Louis starting this Friday — though that series has been relocated to Mercyhurst University in Erie due to ongoing construction at Handler Park.
First pitch Friday is set for 3 p.m. The Bonnies need a win — and they need one now.
