John J. Kolkowski has been elected to a one-year term as mayor of the Village of Allegany.
According to unofficial vote totals from the Cattaraugus County Board of Elections, Kolkowski, who ran on the Republican and Taxpayers First Party Lines, defeated Dominic Papasergi 198 votes to 179 votes in Wednesday’s special election.
The special election took place after the death of Mayor Gregory W. Pearl, who passed away in October 2025 after serving as the village’s mayor since 2015.
