The St. Bonaventure Bonnies’ women’s basketball postseason run came to a close Monday night in Murfreesboro, Tennessee — knocked out of the WNIT by Middle Tennessee, 69 to 50.
It was an uphill battle from the opening tip. The Blue Raiders jumped out to an 18-10 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, leading wire to wire on their home floor.
Laycee Drake was the bright spot for the Bonnies, pouring in a game-high 14 points on an efficient 6-of-10 shooting. Kaylee Krysztof chipped in 9, knocking down three from beyond the arc. But it wasn’t enough against a Middle Tennessee squad that got 20 points and 14 rebounds — a double-double — from Blair Baugus, who was a force all night.
The Bonnies struggled to find their rhythm offensively, shooting just 35 percent from the floor and committing 16 turnovers, which the Blue Raiders converted into 14 points.
A gutsy postseason run for St. Bonaventure… but on Monday night, the road ends in middle Tennessee.
