The Pirates are feeling good this morning after taking the series in Cincinnati.
Pittsburgh dominated the Reds on Wednesday, winning 8 to 3 for the second straight day in Great American Ball Park. Paul Skenes got the win, going five innings and striking out five. But the real story was the offense — Oneil Cruz and Bryan Reynolds each went deep, with Cruz driving in three runs. Nick Gonzales chipped in two hits and a couple RBI as well.
The Bucs scored three in the first, went quiet for a bit, then completely blew the game open with four more runs in the ninth to put a bow on it.
Pittsburgh took two of three from Cincinnati after dropping the opener Monday — a nice bounce-back for a team that’s heading home to PNC Park for the first time this season. The Baltimore Orioles come to town this Friday for a three-game set, with first pitch at 3:12 in the afternoon.
After a rough start on the road, the Pirates look like a different team right now.
