The Yankees needed a hero Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium — and they found one coming off the bench.
New York trailed the Athletics three-to-one heading into the eighth inning, going nowhere fast against Oakland’s pitching. Then Amed Rosario stepped in — and blew the roof off the Bronx. The utility man launched two home runs in the eighth inning alone, driving in all four runs in a stunning frame that turned a deficit into a 5-3, New York lead. Final score — Yankees 5, Athletics 3.
Starter Cam Schlittler went five innings and struck out seven, but it was the bullpen that slammed the door — Fernando Cruz earned the win, and David Bednar nailed down the save.
The Yankees and Athletics are back at it tonight at Yankee Stadium, first pitch at 7:05pm EDT..
