Pennsylvania is opening applications for $5 million in state funding for neurodegenerative disease research. The announcement comes from the Departments of Health and Aging, alongside advocates from the Alzheimer’s Association, the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, and ALS United Mid-Atlantic.
More than 280,000 Pennsylvanians over 65 are living with Alzheimer’s, more than 17,000 with Parkinson’s, and more than 1,000 with ALS. Governor Shapiro’s proposed budget for next year includes an additional $5 million for the effort.
