Medication Drop Boxes are available in McKean County for unused medication.
Each quarter, a County Detective with the District Attorney’s Office empties the boxes and arranges for their destruction by a member of the National Guard as part of a state-wide initiative to reduce access to opiates.
The medication drop boxes are located inside the Kane Municipal Building, Bradford Township Municipal Building, City of Bradford Police Department, the McKean County Sheriff’s Department and the Pennsylvania State Police-Lewis Run barracks.
DA Vettenburg-Shaffer urges county residents to look in their cabinets for unused medication and take it to the nearest box to keep it out of the hands of anyone other than the person to whom it was prescribed.
If you suspect illegal drug activity, please contact Chief County Detective Ryan Yingling at the District Attorney’s Office at (814) 887-3312 or submit a tip to McKeanDA.org.
