The City of Bradford Police upgraded the security cameras in the downtown business district.
According to Chief Ward and Mayor MacDonald, the system cost around $150,000 which included a 10 year license and a cloud system, all paid for by a private unnamed donor. The system included 50 pole mounted cameras, 6 patrol car cameras, and body cameras for officers. Students at Bradford High School made the mounts for the camera’s that were installed by city electrician Dan Tyger.
The new system allows for expansion, new cameras can be added into the system without being hardwired into the system. Businesses and private residents could join the system to enhance security at their locations. The camera’s are smaller and have more advanced qualities, like the ability to zoom in and it can all be monitored from the station.
The new dash cams automatically turn on when the lights come on in the vehicle. They also feature a rear facing camera, giving full view of everything the officer is around. The body cams also integrate with the police cars, as soon as the officer is within 30 feet of the patrol car the camera automatically turns on, there is no on off switch. Anyone who would like additional information on how you can add additional security should contact Chief Ward at 817368-6133 ext 241.
