A Wellsville man was electrocuted when an overhead power line fell on him Wednesday night.
Police say at just after 10 p.m. a backhoe hit an overhead utility line, causing the pole to break and fall. When that happened, the primary distribution line fell onto 26-year-old Derek Roeske, who had been standing nearby, helping the backhoe operator.
Roeske was taken by ambulance to Jones Memorial Hospital, where Allegany County Coroner Ted Crowell pronounced him dead.
Police are continuing their investigation.
