Hunter roads are planned to close early in the Allegheny National Forest.
The USDA Forest Service has announced that hunter roads in the Marienville District of the ANF will be closed as of Tuesday, January 17th, rather than the scheduled closure date of February 19th. The early closure stems from warm weather and heavy rains which have deteriorated road conditions. Marienville District Ranger Rob Fallon stated “We are pleased that we were able to keep [the roads] open through the end of deer season, but realize the early closing may inconvenience some road users”.
Locals are asked to drive these roads with extra caution and to expect poor road conditions from now until the closure.
