In the world of sports anything is possible, and that was proved after Holly Holm scored the biggest upset in Mixed Martial Arts history; knocking out Ronda Rousey. Holms took out Rousey 59 seconds into the 2nd round with a left head kick to claim the bantam weight championship at UFC 193 in Melbourne. The event drew 56,214 fans, breaking the previous record set in 2011.
Rousey was not available for comment after the fight, but Holm was quoted saying, “I’m trying to take it all in. This is crazy!” Holm now becomes the 2nd female bantam weight champion in UFC history, putting a halt to Rousey’s 6 consecutive titles. The win is the 7th knockout win of Holm’s career and her quickest finish to date.
Many people are already talking about a rematch and it seems that’s the way things will most likely play out.
