With a week and a half to go before the general election, a report shows that outdated and antiquated laws still on the books could wreak havoc.
PA Spotlight is reporting examples of outdated portions of the election code which could open the door to challenges and the possible invalidation of elections in the Commonwealth.
Examples include the requirement that polling places be lit by lanterns, requiring using lead pencils to vote when modern ballot scanners require ink, and the fact that spring primary elections technically have illegal polling hours because the law specifies Eastern Standard Time, while Daylight time is in effect in April.
