An Olean man pled guilty to child porn charges in federal court Tuesday.
29-year-old Philip Young pleaded guilty to distribution of child pornography.
The charge stems from July 2021, where Young recorded a sexual video of a nine-year-old girl.
Young was charged by Olean Police that year with endangering the welfare of a child, but he deleted the video and images during that investigation to hide evidence.
In June 2023, Microsoft contacted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children submitting a tip of what appeared to be child pornography from an IP address in Olean.
In October 2023, troopers found images on Young’s cell phone and evidence that was uploaded to the Telegram app.
Young was charged with possession of child sexual abuse material and production of child sexual abuse material by federal prosecutors.
Prosecutors and Young came to a plea agreement for a sentence with a statutory maximum of 20 years in federal prison, a fine of $50,000 to $250,000, and post-release supervision of five years to life in exchange for prosecutors dropping the production charge.
Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 26.
