DA Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer is asking to move up the murder trial date for the Bradford Township man accused of shooting a pregnant woman.
42-year-old Thomas McElhattan originally had his trial scheduled for June for allegedly shooting 21-year-old Rebecca Haynes five times at her Jefferson Street home in June with her toddler in the next room.
Haynes was his stepson’s girlfriend, but McElhattan was allegedly sexually involved with her as well, with the shooting allegedly occurring because Haynes was going to tell his wife about their involvement.
An order issued on Dec. 23 requested that court administration to provide earlier trial dates, and to provide information relative to witnesses by Feb. 28.
