Federal officials at FCI McKean, a medium security federal prison in Lewis Run, have reported the death of an inmate on Friday, marking the third such incident at the facility in the past 16 months.
According to a press release issued by the correctional facility, 30-year-old Kevin Montemayor was discovered unresponsive at about 3:15 p.m.
Prison staff immediately initiated life-saving measures and Montemayor was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
He had been serving a 180-month sentence imposed by the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of Texas for possession of child pornography and sexual exploitation of children.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons is expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
