Good news on both fronts from the hockey world this weekend — your two regional teams both came away with wins Saturday night.
The Buffalo Sabres bounced back beautifully from Thursday’s tough loss to Washington, defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs three to two at KeyBank Center Saturday night. After dropping four of their last five, the Sabres desperately needed that one. A tight, physical game against a division rival — and Buffalo found a way to get it done. This time of year, every point matters with the playoffs in sight.
Meanwhile, out west, the Pittsburgh Penguins also got back on track — edging the Utah Mammoth four to three in Salt Lake City Saturday night. After getting hammered six to two by Vegas on Thursday, the Pens needed a response. They got one, picking up two crucial points on the road against a tough Utah squad.
Both teams enter this week with some momentum — and both will need it. Buffalo heads to Vegas Tuesday night, while Pittsburgh faces Colorado tonight before a tough stretch ahead.
The NHL regular season is tightening up. Every game from here on out — it counts.
