Spring is knocking on the door in McKean County and across the border in Cattaraugus County — and that means high school baseball is right around the corner.
The Bradford Area Owls are gearing up for another run in PIAA District 9 Class 4A play. The Owls have yet to take the field for 2026, but the schedule is set and anticipation is building in Bradford. Last season was a tough one — the Owls finished with a losing record — and the coaching staff is looking to the returning roster to turn things around come opening day.
Nearby in McKean County, the Smethport Hubbers, Otto-Eldred Terrors, and Port Allegany Gators are also in pre-season mode, awaiting the green light from Mother Nature to get things going in the hills of north-central Pennsylvania.
Just across the state line in Cattaraugus County, New York, Section Six baseball is also just getting underway, with Olean set to host Salamanca and Franklinville squaring off against Cattaraugus-Little Valley — all part of an opening week slate that has fans on both sides of the border dusting off their lawn chairs.
The season is young, the rosters are fresh, and for Bradford Owls fans — hope springs eternal.
