The New York Yankees sent a message on Opening Night — and it came through loud and clear.
The Bronx Bombers dominated the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park Wednesday night, winning their season opener seven to nothing in a complete team performance that had Yankees fans feeling very good about 2026.
The story on the mound was Max Fried — and what a story it was. The Yankees’ ace was untouchable, spinning six and a third innings of shutout baseball, allowing just two hits while striking out four and walking one on only 86 pitches. San Francisco managed just three hits all night against New York’s pitching staff, which combined for a complete shutout.
Offensively, New York erupted for five runs in the second inning to blow it open. Giancarlo Stanton had two hits and drove in a run. Trent Grisham delivered a clutch two-RBI triple. Ryan McMahon added two RBIs of his own, and Austin Wells went two-for-four behind the dish. Notably, Aaron Judge was held hitless in five at-bats — but with this lineup, it didn’t matter.
Giants ace Logan Webb had a rough night, surrendering seven runs on nine hits across five innings. The loss goes on his ledger.
The Yankees and Giants are back at it Friday in San Francisco. First pitch at three-thirty-five Eastern on Apple TV+. New York is off and running.
