The Buffalo Sabres needed that one — and they delivered. Monday night at KeyBank Center, the Sabres knocked off the Tampa Bay Lightning, four-to-two, in a game Buffalo controlled from the opening puck drop.
The Sabres came out flying in the first period, jumping out to a two-to-one lead and never looking back. Josh Norris lit the lamp, and first star of the game Alex Tuch was everywhere — six shots on net, a goal, and the kind of intensity Buffalo needs down the stretch. Rasmus Dahlin added an assist and anchored the blue line all night. Final shots: twenty-nine for Buffalo, twenty-five for Tampa. The Sabres did the job.
Buffalo’s next one is Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden against the Rangers.
