Paul Skenes was absolutely untouchable Tuesday night at PNC Park. The Pittsburgh Pirates topped the Colorado Rockies 3-1 — and it wasn’t even that close.
Skenes went eight full innings, allowing just two hits, zero earned runs, while striking out ten Rockies on only ninety-eight pitches. Pittsburgh’s team E-R-A on the night? One-point-zero-zero. The man is simply operating on a different level right now.
Offensively, Oneil Cruz led the way — going three for four with two doubles and two runs scored. Nick Gonzales added a double and an R-B-I, Bryan Reynolds drove in a run, and Brandon Lowe chipped in one as well. Spencer Horwitz went two for five out of the leadoff spot. Gregory Soto came on to close it out in the ninth and earn the save.
The Bucs stay home at PNC Park — Colorado back in town tonight for Game Two of the series. First pitch 6:40pm EDT with the radio pregame beginning at 6:15 on WESB Sports, B107.5FM.
