It’s playoff time in the hills of McKean County and across the Southern Tier — here’s your high school sports update.
On the diamond in District Nine, the postseason is underway. Fourth-seeded Port Allegany and fifth-seeded Coudersport squared off today in a Class A baseball quarterfinal, with the Gators hosting. Seventh-seeded Smethport also hit the road to take on second-seeded Moniteau in the Class Double-A bracket. We’ll have those results as they come in.
On the track, it was a big weekend for Bradford. The Owls’ boys team defended their District Nine Triple-A championship, finishing with one-hundred-eighteen-and-a-half points. The 1600 relay team of Tyler Simmons, Logan Kohler, Kadyn Tessena, and Danny Marasco took first with a time of three-twenty-nine. The Lady Owls finished fourth.
Up in Olean, the Huskies are rolling. The baseball team has rattled off ten straight wins to close the regular season at thirteen and one. And the softball team has clinched a share of the CCAA Division One title.
District playoffs across the region continue all week.
