Aaron Judge silenced the doubters in a big way on Sunday afternoon.
Judge crushed a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to give the New York Yankees a 2-0 shutout win over the Tampa Bay Rays at Yankee Stadium
It was a pitchers’ duel from start to finish. Ryan Weathers was outstanding for New York — seven shutout innings, four hits allowed and four strikeouts. Drew Rasmussen matched him for Tampa Bay, tossing seven scoreless of his own before handing it to the bullpen. Kevin Kelly came on in the eighth — and paid the price in the ninth when Judge went deep to end it.
Judge finished two-for-four on the day with both R-B-I’s. Tim Hill earned the win in relief.
The Yankees take the series finale and head to Kansas City for a three-game set beginning tonight.
