The Stanley Cup Final just keeps delivering — and Jordan Staal just keeps delivering right along with it.
The Carolina Hurricanes evened the series at two games apiece Tuesday night in Las Vegas — beating the Golden Knights 5-3 at T-Mobile Arena. Staal scored two goals including the game-winner with thirteen minutes remaining in the third period — and has now scored in all four games of the series. He is the first player to score in each of the first four games of a Stanley Cup Final since Mike Bossy did it with the New York Islanders back in 1982.
Nikolaj Ehlers was outstanding as well — finishing with a goal and two assists. He added the empty netter with under a minute left to seal it. Backup goalie Brandon Bussi — making his first-ever NHL playoff start — came up big late, making crucial saves to keep Vegas at bay after the Golden Knights clawed back to tie it three-three in the second period.
Brett Howden — who leads all playoff scorers with fourteen goals — and William Karlsson scored for Vegas. Mitch Marner added an assist to continue his Conn Smythe Trophy campaign.
Game 5 is Thursday night back in Raleigh at Lenovo Center — puck drop at eight o’clock Eastern on ABC. Series tied at two games apiece.
