The field in Omaha is down to two, and the Men’s College World Series Championship Series is set.
North Carolina punched its ticket first, dominating West Virginia 12-7 Wednesday afternoon. Owen Hull continued to rake for the Tar Heels, while North Carolina got a clutch one-two-three inning out of reliever Jackson Rose to slam the door late.
Then Oklahoma made it a championship doubleheader. The Sooners blasted past Georgia eleven-to-four, getting multi-homer performances from both Jason Walk and Dasan Harris, while freshman Nick Wesloski turned in another strong start on the mound. It’s Oklahoma’s fourth trip to the championship series in school history, and the second under head coach Skip Johnson.
So, it’s North Carolina versus Oklahoma for the national title — a best-of-three series that gets underway Saturday night at eight Eastern on ESPN from Charles Schwab Field in Omaha.
