A tight one slipped away from the Pirates Tuesday night at PNC Park.
Pittsburgh fell 3-2 to Seattle, with the difference coming down to two solo home runs — one from Cal Raleigh, another from Cole Young — that Mitch Keller surrendered in an otherwise solid start. Keller went six innings, striking out four, and the only damage was those two long balls.
George Kirby matched him pitch for pitch, going six innings himself with five strikeouts to pick up the win, and Andrés Muñoz closed it out for the save.
Offensively, Pittsburgh managed nine hits but went just two for eight with runners in scoring position — the difference in a one-run game. Brandon Lowe and Nick Gonzales each had two hits.
Tomorrow night (Wednesday, June 24), it’s Braxton Ashcraft for Pittsburgh against Bryan Woo for Seattle — first pitch 6:40 PM Eastern at PNC Park. The radio pregame kicks off at 6:15pm EDT on WESB Sports, B107.5FM.
