A sloppy night in the field cost the Yankees Thursday in Boston.
New York fell six-to-three to the Red Sox, and the story wasn’t the pitching — it was four errors that turned what should’ve been a quality start into a loss. Cam Schlittler was actually excellent, striking out nine over five innings without allowing an earned run, but the defense behind him let four unearned runs cross the plate.
Offensively, the Yankees did have some bright spots — José Caballero hit a solo home run, and Paul Goldschmidt had two hits and an RBI. But it wasn’t enough to overcome the mistakes.
New York looks to clean it up tonight in Boston, first pitch at 6:10pm EDT. Will Warren for the Yankees against Payton Tolle for Boston.
