The Yankees’ struggles in Tampa Bay continued Tuesday night — and the strikeout numbers are getting alarming.
New York fell 6-4 to the Rays, dropping to two-and-two in the series. Will Warren was roughed up early — allowing three home runs and six earned runs in just four innings before the bullpen took over. Yandy Díaz, Hunter Feduccia, and Victor Mesa Junior all went deep against Warren, who couldn’t find his command all night.
Tampa’s bullpen arm Ian Seymour made things worse — striking out twelve Yankees in five-and-a-third innings of relief.
The lone bright spot for New York was Ben Rice — his solo home run and three RBI were the only reason this game stayed close.
And here’s the number that defines this Yankees stretch — thirty-four strikeouts in the last two games alone. Seventeen each night.
New York and Tampa are back at it tonight — first pitch six-forty Eastern on Amazon Prime Video.
