One of the greatest individual performances in Pittsburgh Pirates history happened Tuesday night at PNC Park.
Ryan O’Hearn went four for five, crushed three home runs, and drove in ten runs — a new franchise record for RBI in a single game — as the Pirates demolished the Atlanta Braves twelve-to-four. The third home run was also the one-hundredth of O’Hearn’s career. A night Pirates fans will be talking about for a long time.
Pittsburgh jumped out fast — scoring four in the first inning alone, chasing Hurston Waldrep before the fourth inning was complete. The Bucs hit a blistering three-seventy-eight as a team, going six for seventeen with runners in scoring position and pounding out fourteen hits.
Paul Skenes was sharp — six innings, four strikeouts, just two earned runs — picking up the win and looking every bit the All-Star he is heading into the break.
Pittsburgh and Atlanta are back at it tonight — first pitch at 6:40pm EDT with the radio pregame at 6:15pm on WESB Sports/B107.5FM from PNC Park.
