The Yankees took two of three from the Phillies in Philadelphia, but Sunday belonged to the home team. New York opened with a tight 1-to-nothing win Friday behind Cam Schlittler’s bounce-back gem — seven-plus innings, 12 strikeouts, no runs. Saturday brought more of the same, as Austin Wells and Jasson Dominguez went deep in a 3-to-1 win, with Ryan Weathers working into the sixth.
Philadelphia avoided the sweep in a big way Sunday, though, blasting the Yankees 11-to-4 behind Bryson Stott’s five-R-B-I day, including a home run. Cristopher Sanchez picked up the win; Will Warren took the loss for New York.
The Yankees improve to 59 and 46, still holding the top American League Wild Card spot, and now shift focus to a four-game series at the Chicago White Sox, starting Monday night at Rate Field.
