Tonight’s the night the Mike McCarthy era gets its first real test. The Steelers open their preseason at seven o’clock at Acrisure Stadium against the team McCarthy coached for 13 seasons — the Green Bay Packers, complete with a Super Bowl title alongside Aaron Rodgers, who’s now reunited with him in Pittsburgh for what Rodgers calls his final NFL season.
Rodgers is expected to take somewhere between 30 and 40 snaps across his first two preseason outings, giving fans their first real look at McCarthy’s offense installed in Pittsburgh. On the other sideline, Packers star Micah Parsons remains out recovering from last year’s ACL tear, while tight end Tucker Kraft returns from his own ACL recovery with a carefully managed snap count.
