Mike McCarthy’s debut leading his hometown Steelers was a successful one. Pittsburgh rolled past Green Bay 28-to-9 Thursday night at Acrisure Stadium, and it was rookie third-rounder Drew Allar stealing the show — 10 of 13 passing for 154 yards, two touchdown throws, and a rushing score in his first NFL action. Will Howard also impressed, going 7 of 9 for 86 yards while running the two-minute offense. On defense, Pittsburgh racked up four sacks and didn’t allow a single rush over 10 yards all night. Aaron Rodgers didn’t play, watching from the sideline as his old team faced his new one.
The Steelers play their next preseason game on Friday, August 21, at 7:00 PM ET, hosting the New York Jets at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh — Preseason Week 2. After that, they close out the preseason on the road at Buffalo on August 27.
