A rough night at Yankee Stadium despite plenty of offense. The Yankees fell 9-to-7 to the Astros Tuesday, spoiling Luis García Junior’s best game as a Yankee. Will Warren struggled early, allowing runs in the first and second innings, and the bullpen made things worse — Fernando Cruz and Brent Headrick combined to give up six runs over four innings, including a back-breaking Jeremy Peña homer in the sixth. Daulton Varsho, a career nightmare matchup for Warren, added to the damage.
The loss overshadowed a genuinely good offensive effort from a lineup that’s struggled for two months. New York looks to bounce back Wednesday, continuing the series against Houston at Yankee Stadium.
