The Bradford Owls dropped their season opener Friday night, falling 63-to-14 on the road at Punxsutawney. It was a tough task right out of the gate for new head coach Troy Cook, making his debut against his own alma mater in a game that got away from Bradford early. Punxsutawney’s offense controlled the tempo from the opening drive, building a big early lead the Owls simply couldn’t claw back from.
Bradford did find some bright spots. Bentley Evans got the Owls on the board first, capped by a successful two-point conversion carry from Mikah Benjamin. Later in the game, quarterback Brady Rosendahl scrambled out of the pocket for a touchdown of his own, though Bradford was unable to convert the extra point on that drive. It’s a rebuilding process for a program working to bounce back after a difficult 2025 season, with 13 returning letterwinners forming the core of this year’s roster under Cook’s new leadership.
The Owls return home now for back-to-back weeks, hosting Kane on September 4th and Smethport on September 11th, looking to find their footing in front of the home crowd.
