The Yankees beat the Rockies 6-to-1 Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium, and rookie George Lombard Junior stole the show — a third-inning grand slam, his first career slam and the Yankees’ first of the entire season. At 21 years and 99 days old, Lombard becomes the second-youngest player in Yankees history to hit one, trailing only Mickey Mantle. Will Warren was outstanding on the mound, striking out eight over six innings while allowing just one run, improving to 10-and-6 and winning back-to-back starts for the first time since May. Aaron Judge, in his second game back from a fractured rib, went 2-for-4 with two singles and played all eight innings in right field.
The win improves New York to 83-and-62, winners of 15 of their last 22 games as they push toward the postseason.
