Henry Davis was the story Thursday night, driving in a career-best-tying performance as the Pirates knocked off the NL Central champion Brewers 7-to-4 at PNC Park. Davis went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer, a walk, and two RBIs, and also reached on catcher’s interference along the way. Konnor Griffin keyed a five-run second inning with a two-run double, and Oneil Cruz added a two-run single to help build the early lead.
Mason Montgomery closed it out for his 14th save in 16 chances, extending his scoreless streak to 21-and-two-thirds innings. The Pirates improve to 76-and-77 and host Kansas City Friday night, with Paul Skenes on the mound opposite Randy Dobnak.
