Milwaukee and Cleveland each won a playoff game Monday. In the N-L-C-S, William Contreras had three hits as the Brewers beat the Dodgers 7-4 to take a two-games-to-none lead. Contreras tied it with a four-hundred-thirty-six-foot homer in the fifth and drove in the go-ahead run in the sixth. Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto lasted two and two-thirds innings, his shortest postseason start, and Milwaukee’s bullpen retired the last fifteen Dodgers in order. Game Three is Wednesday at eight Eastern in Los Angeles: Robert Gasser for the Brewers, Blake Snell for the Dodgers.
In the A-L-C-S, Cleveland rallied late to beat Tampa Bay 7-3 in Game One. Drew Rasmussen took a shutout into the sixth for the Rays, but Nathaniel Lowe’s two-run single in the eighth broke a tie, and the Guardians added three in the ninth, including a two-run double by Joe Adell. José Ramírez had three hits, and Cade Smith closed it. Game Two is Tuesday night at eight Eastern at Tampa Bay: Parker Messick for Cleveland, Freddy Peralta for the Rays.
