A Port Allegany man involved in a rooftop police standoff in Bradford has been sentenced to 15 to 30 months in state prison.
27-year-old Ryan Johnston and Christina M. Lynn-Hamilton tried to hide from police on Aug. 15 on the roof of a South Avenue home. They were taking meth while on the roof and nearly fell off a number of times.
Hamilton is serving seven months to two years in state prison for her role in the standoff, as well as hiding Johnston in her home while police were looking for him.

A Smethport man found guilty of choking a woman and threatening several people with a machete has been sentenced to 33 to 55 months in state prison.
A jury found 47-year-old Mark Carlson guilty of strangulation, aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threat and recklessly endangering another person.
On April 6 of last year Carlson threatened to kill people in his home with the machete and was swinging it around. He also grabbed a woman by the throat and squeezed until she couldn’t breathe.

Another person has been sentenced for forging signatures on nominating petitions in the Bradford mayoral race.
24-year-old Nikki Elliott of Bradford will spend up to a year in McKean County Jail. She was given credit for 19 days of time served.
Elliott forged nine signatures on petitions for Slim Lewis, who pleaded guilty last week. He ended his mayoral campaign when he was confronted about the signatures in the spring. He hasn’t been sentenced yet.
Two other people, Lena Lewis and Josef Godfrey are serving their sentences.

A Bradford man who led police on a two-state chase and hit one officer’s car will spend 7 1/2 to 23 1/2 months in McKean County Jail.
29-year-old Michael Stone refused to pull over when Foster Township Police tried to stop him on April 28. He sped away going up to 60 mph in residential areas and up to 100 mph on Route 219.
City Police tried to stop him but he hit the cruiser and continued driving into New York, where he was arrested after wrecking his car.

A Bradford man who pleaded guilty in four separate cases will spend 23 to 46 months in state prison.
37-year-old Walter Gutshall damaged a door and windshield on a Jeep, causing more than $1,100 in damage on March 15. On August 6 he was smoking marijuana while he was supposed to be watching a child younger than 6. On August 19 he got into a fight with a woman while he was supposed to be caring for a 10-year-old. The 10-year-old tried to stop the fight. On August 21, he restrained a woman and had meth with intent to deliver it.

One person has been sentenced in McKean County Court for simple assault, one for reckless endangerment, and another on both charges.
37-year-old Thomas Pritt of Duke Center has been sentenced to up to a year in McKean County Jail for injuring another man during a fight in March.
33-year-old Sarah Bauer of Bradford will spend 18 months on probation for hitting a child too hard while disciplining him and for missing doctor’s appointments for him despite the fact he was underweight and repeatedly banging his head.
45-year-old Frank Szarowicz of Kane punched another man in the face, causing him to fall on the pavement and hit his head. The victim was knocked unconscious and had to be flown to an out-of-town hospital for treatment.
