A bill sponsored by State Rep. Martin Causer to allow dairy farmers to move their milk even during winter weather has been passed by committee and is on its way to the State House Floor.
House Bill 915 would exempt milk trucks from weather-related commercial vehicle travel bans. Causer introduced the bill in response to travel bans ordered by the Wolf Administration.
Causer criticized the Governor in his remarks during debate on the bill, saying “I keep hearing from the Administration that farmers need to change their business model. Well, that’s someone that has no clue about how the dairy industry operates. You can’t turn the cow off. You either ship the milk or you dump the milk down the drain.”
