After recent reports about necessary repairs to the Kane Area High School caused a stir on social media, Superintendent Bob Gaetano addressed the public at the school board meeting on Thursday. He laid out what areas of the school were presenting problems and possible ways to fix each of the issues. Photos presented showed the roof starting to rust out, loose tiles all around the school, restrooms completed in the 70’s that didn’t comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act and locker rooms that are falling apart. There is also peeling paint around much of the school and damp ceiling tiles that may contain mold. Gaetano went further to discuss the drainage problem with Kane’s football field, which is so bad that a championship game had to be moved to Bradford because it was too wet to play on. The superintendent stated he could not understand why so many much needed repairs had been put off for so many years, perhaps even decades in some cases. Gaetano will hold a meeting at the school at 6pm on Thursday the 18th with the public to further discuss the repairs and what needs to be done.
