The proposed sale of the sewer system serving Kane and Wetmore Township is in doubt after the prospective buyer rejected the asking price.
In a written notice, Pennsylvania American Water said that it didn’t agree with the approximately $22.98 million price set by the Kane Borough Sewer Authority.
The two entities signed a formal agreement back in November, subject to approval of appraisals.
Even if a price can be agreed upon, the sale would be subject to regulatory review and approval by the Environmental Protection Agency, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.
