Convicted child sex abuser David Poulson has officially been removed from the priesthood.
Erie Bishop Lawrence Persico says the 65-year-old Poulson is now forbidden to function as a priest in the Catholic Church, should no longer present himself as a priest, and not be admitted as a priest in the celebration of the sacraments. The Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, with the approval of Pope Francis, made the decision.
The former Bradford Central Christian High School teacher is serving a state prison term of 2 1/2 to 14 years for molesting two boys in Jefferson County.
