An Olean man was arrested on multiple warrants after a bicycle stop on N 1st St Tuesday evening.

Deputies of the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office arrested 26-year-old Nathaniel L. Whiting on two active bench warrants; one through the Allegany Town Court and one through the Olean City Court.

Whiting was turned over to the custody of the Olean Police Department.

 

NOON THURSDAY

The federal death penalty case against Tyler Prescott who is accused of raping and murdering his 2-year-old son last August, has stalled pending the appointment of a new judge.

President Judge John Pavlock recused himself on March 5 due to concerns that actions he previously took as a McKean County prosecutor “may have relevance in this action.”

Judge Michele Alfieri-Causer also recused herself in a March order, citing a conflict regarding the proceedings.

Prescott was supposed to have a last date of plea on March 20, however this plea date is on hold until a judge can be appointed.

NOON THURSDAY

A Limestone man was charged in two separate cases in Carrollton early this morning.

New York State Police charged 57-year-old Bruce E. Tanner with felony criminal mischief in one case and assault in another case.

Tanner was released on his own recognizance in the assault case and issued an appearance ticket in the felony case.

The City of Bradford Offices on Kennedy St as well as the OECD Offices will be closed for Good Friday.

Trash and recycling pickups will remain unchanged.

University of Pittsburgh at Bradford theater students created an original theater piece based on AI, “Scheherazade (Cher-Uh-Zod) 2.0, or the 1,000,001 AI Nights,” to be performed next week.

Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. tonight and at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Studio Theater located in Blaisdell Hall on campus.

Admission is $6 for the public.

Free Spirit Redeemer’s Chapel opened its doors at 68 Minard Run Road.

It features Christian rock music and Scripture-centered teaching each Friday evening.

Free Spirit began with a soft launch on Friday, March 20th with it’s first official weekly gathering scheduled for tonight, Good Friday, at 7PM.
