Seneca Sue Over Revenue Sharing

The Seneca Nation is suing in Federal Court to overturn an arbitration panel’s decision regarding revenue sharing.

The panel ruled earlier this year that the Seneca Nation must continue payments to municipalities, counties and school districts where its casinos are located. The Senecas disagreed, saying the decision effectively amended their compact with the State.

The original compact required payments for a 14-year period. That period ended in 2016.

If the Senecas think they’re going to get a fair hearing in the Kangaroo courts of today, they’re in for a big surprise. I just wouldn’t pay the money. Tell NYS to come take it. This is no different than all those broken 19th century treaties resulting in the genocide of the Native Americans. If the casinos are on their reservations, they owe nothing. Plain and simple.
