A teenager from Indonesia is facing a number of charges after being stopped for driving 90 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 219.
Sherriff’s deputies say Haikal Ucok was driving in the Town of Ashford at 3 o’clock in the morning on Tuesday when they tried to stop him. With deputies following him he crossed the center line numerous times with oncoming traffic in the other lane. He stopped after about two miles.
Because Ucok had a 16-year-old boy in the vehicle with him he was charged with endangering the welfare of child. He’s also charged with reckless driving and a number of traffic violations.
He’ll answer the charges in Town of Ashford Court.
