Olean Police and firefighters spent about half an hour looking for someone who may have fallen through ice on Olean Creek near Bradner Stadium.
They got a call at around 8 a.m. Tuesday, when the temperature was between zero and five degrees.
Water rescue crews from Allegany and Westons Mills helped look for the person, but the search was called off at about 8:30 a.m. when they determined no one had fallen into the water.
They did talk to the person who called in the report, and he said he heard a crunch and a splash, and assumed it was a person who had fallen in. Firefighters think it was probably ice hitting the abutment.
