The parent company of Gordmans has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Houston-based Stage Stores said it is searching for a buyer and plans to reopen and liquidate its stores beginning Friday. The retailer has 738 stores across a half-dozen brands, including Gordmans, Peebles and Stage in 42 states.
Company CEO Michael Glazer said the increasingly challenging market environment was exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which required them to temporarily close all of their stores and furlough the vast majority of their employees.
Stage Stores will begin liquidation sales at 550 stores Friday, with others following suit in coming weeks.
The Gordmans store at the Bradford Mall just opened in February. According to the company website it is not one of the stores that will start a liquidation sale Friday.
When is the store in Bradford pa going to open?
